While I was in Essentuki the first part of pedestrian zone on Golden island was opened, near the building where I previously worked. It was opened on the Moscow city day celebration. This pedestrian zone is a continuation of Patriarchy bridge continuing up to the bridge through the Vodootvodny Channel (drainage channel). The whole construction combines now four embankments: Prechistenskaya, Bersenevskaya, Bolotnaya and Yakimanskaya. This is just the first part of the major project that aims at making the island look fashionable. There is still much work to do but it is nice to see the process going. (Although the noise from the place of construction was quite annoying when I was at work, especially during summer time).
